The Gunboat 57 was born from the ashes of the previous Gunboat Company. GB55-05 was removed from the yard to find a new home across the street to be finished by a whole host of specialists in their respective fields.
The Owner wanted a high performance boat that could be de-powered for short-handed sailing, so the whole boat was reviewed with a clear goal of showing what the hull lines could achieve.
Improvements were made to the machinery, appendages, steering, rudder bearings, rig, sail and deck plans, all with weight saving and efficiency in mind.
From an NID perspective this well-executed build represents a long-awaited positive outcome to this project.
We are now looking forward to seeing how her performance stacks up against the competition..
